7 Layer Greek Salad
This make-ahead salad has everything happening: refreshing veg, salty olives, sweet tomatoes, briny feta, sharp onion, and a slightly-sweet and creamy oregano and garlic dressing. Enjoy paired with any grilled meat or just enjoy it on its own!
Old Fashioned Chicken and Rice
I used Vivian Howard’s recipe for this simple Southern classic. I also used a laying hen that required many hours of stewing. If you use a young/grocery-bought hen, it will likely take a little over an hour. You can garnish with herbs if you’d like but I think it’s simplicity is what makes it so delightful. And there’s no shying away from that rich, chicken flavor with so few ingredients.
Still working on your Thanksgiving Menu? Look no further.
It’s almost Thanksgiving, ya’ll! I don’t know about you, but it’s my favorite day of the year. I love it because it combines the things I love the most in this world: family (by blood or bond), food, wine, tradition, and gratitude. If you’re pondering what to add to your menu this year, here are…
Farm to Table: A Midsummer Night at Bumbleroot Farm

When you think of Maine, I’m sure your thoughts immediately focus on jagged coastlines, lighthouses, and lobsters. Oh, my friend, it is so much more. It’s forests and wide open spaces. It’s rich, verdant, sprawling farmland with old barns attached to centuries-old farmhouses and tire swings hung on sprawling maple trees. Past A left turn off…
Salted Graham Crackers
Salted graham crackers, or in this case Salted Graham Cookies, scream summertime and camp fires. Even though it’s autumn up north, we’re squeezing out every bit of life in our still-long days and what better way to celebrate those days than with graham crackers, chocolate, and toasted marshmallows?!
Green Goddess Potato Salad

When faced with hot summer days, the traditional mayonnaise-coated potato salad, albeit delicious, doesn’t seem to hit the spot quite like a lighter, cooler flavored variety. This Green Goddess Potato Salad tastes fresh, where fresh herbs are front and center. Use whatever mix of fresh herbs you have on hand or use only one if you prefer the taste of one herb over another.
Lemon-Lime Cheesecake with Saltine Cracker Crust
By Mary Catherine Leave a Comment
This recipe is a mashup of Bill Smith’s Atlantic Beach Pie and Taste of Home’s Lemon Dream Cheesecake, with a little tweaking here and there. It’s everything you want a cheesecake to be: rich and creamy balanced with citrus and a hint of salt from the saltine cracker crust.
